This is not CNetUSA.com which makes or sells that item. So this is not their tech support but a discussion forum. But if I was to look at this I'd make sure SSID broadcast is enabled as well as the firmware in the router the latest or at least what the maker's tech support reccomends.

I'd also use the latest drivers for the USB dongle. There are also issues with some devices and WPA2 so I drop security to none or at least go to a hotspot and try the new hardware there. Finally there can be issues with some machines where the owner installed the OS but doesn't know about motherboard drivers. They'll see this issue as well. Since you didn't tell much in your post I've hit all the usual issues in short form and hope you see something you can use. It saves everyone time if they read and follow that note. Hi, I have just installed a CNet CWD-854 dongle on my wife's Toshiba Laptop (XP). It works fine but every time the laptop is shutdown or goes into hibernation the dongle disconnects and I need to type-in the WEP Key again.
I should explain that the CNet device was obtained to replace a D-Link card which used a PMCIA(?) card which protruded from the side of the laptop and prevented the laptop from sliding into the slot in my wife's new desk. I have removed the D-Link software from the system. Any help would be much appreciated.How can I make the dongle/laptop retain this data and auto connect?
